About the EdgeTariff Total Landed Cost Calculator
Total landed cost (TLC) is the full price of getting a product to a buyer in another country. It combines the cost of goods, shipping, insurance, import duties, taxes, and customs brokerage fees.
Landed Cost Formula:
Total landed cost = product cost + shipping + insurance + import duty + taxes + customs and brokerage fees.
For example, a $300 order shipped from the US to the UK, with $25 shipping, $5 insurance, a 12% duty rate and 20% VAT, has a customs value of $330. Duty adds $39.60, VAT adds $73.92 and a $10 brokerage fee brings the total landed cost to $453.52.

3 Key Benefits of the EdgeTariff Total Landed Cost Calculator
Built for cross-border merchants who care about cost transparency, customer experience and vital business cash flow benefits.
Avoid Surprise Fees at Delivery
Show overseas buyers the true cost of their purchase at checkout, before they pay. Instead of guessing, or hoping to avoid duties and taxes, they see one clear total. No unexpected bill from the courier at the door.
Ship DDP – Delivery & Duty Paid
Show the Total Landed Cost (TLC) at checkout and ship under Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) terms. Duties, taxes, and shipping are paid upfront, so overseas buyers have nothing more to pay on delivery. They simply receive their goods.
Improve Your Cash Flow (Without a Merchant of Record)
Show the Total Landed Cost at checkout, and overseas buyers pay you for the goods, shipping, duties, and taxes upfront. Ship under Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) terms, with the label set to bill all duties and taxes to you as the shipper. The buyer simply receives their goods.
Your carrier then bills you for shipping, duties, and taxes on its normal billing cycle (for example, 10 or 30 days later). You’re paid first and pay later. You don’t file customs declarations yourself or pay foreign customs agencies directly, and you don’t give a percentage of each sale to a Merchant of Record (MoR) provider.

Landed Cost Calculator FAQ
-
What is total landed cost?
Total landed cost is the full price of getting a product to a buyer in another country. It combines the cost of goods, shipping, insurance, import duties, taxes, and customs brokerage fees.
-
How do you calculate total landed cost?
Total landed cost = cost of goods + shipping + insurance + duties + taxes + brokerage/clearance fees. The EdgeTariff calculator does this for you: select the from and to countries, add shipping charges and your products, and it returns one total in your chosen currency.
-
Is the calculator free?
Yes. The EdgeTariff Total Landed Cost Calculator is free to use, with no signup and no credit card.
-
What is DDP?
Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) is an Incoterm where the seller pays duties and taxes, so the buyer pays nothing more on delivery. Showing the total landed cost at checkout lets you collect those charges upfront.
-
Can I add it to my store?
Yes. Install the EdgeTariff or EdgeCTP app on platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, Commerce7, or Faire, or use the EdgeTariff API for a custom integration.
-
How do you calculate the landed cost of imported goods?
Add up the product cost, shipping, insurance, import duty, taxes such as VAT or GST, and any customs or brokerage fees. Duty is based on the product’s HS code and country of origin, and in many countries tax is charged on the goods plus shipping and duty. The EdgeTariff calculator works this out for you for 208+ countries.
-
Do I need an HS code to use the calculator?
Yes. Enter an HS code of at least 6 digits for each product. The HS code sets the duty rate, so an accurate code gives an accurate landed cost.
-
Can I calculate landed cost for an order with several products?
Yes. Add one line per product with its own HS code, price, quantity, weight and origin, and the calculator returns one total for the whole order.
